Theoretical expectations for the top-quark mass

چکیده

I review the theoretical expectactions for the top-quark mass in a variety of models: the Standard Model, unified models (GUTs), low-energy supersymmetric models (SUSY), unified supersymmetric models (SUSY GUTs), supergravity models, and superstring models. In all instances I consider the constraints on the top-quark mass which arise by demanding that these theories be weakly interacting. This assumption is quantified by the use of partial-wave unitarity or triviality. The resulting upper bounds on the top-quark mass are most stringent in SUSY GUTs models (m t <∼ 200 sin βGeV). I also discuss a class of SU(5) × U(1) superstring models where m t ∼ (170 − 195)GeV is predicted. I conclude that experimental determinations of the top-quark mass can be naturally understood in SUSY GUTs and superstring models. Search for supersymmetry in top final states at CMS

A search for SUSY using the top quark plus missing transverse energy (MET), in a low mass mSUGRA test point is performed. A two–constraints kinematic fit is utilized to extract the top quark, either b-jet the ones that is recognizable or it is not recognizable. It is shown that for point LM1, for the former situation, a 5σ excess can be achieved with 30 pb-1 and for the latter situation, it can...

TeVatron Results on Top Quark Physics

The CDF and D0 collaborations at Fermilab’s Tevatron pp̄ collider have in place an extensive program to measure fundamental properties of the top quark. Recent results from Run I ( √ s = 1.8 TeV) and Run II ( √ s = 1.96 TeV) on the top quark’s production, mass, and decays are presented here. All results are consistent within their uncertainties with the Standard Model expectations for the top qu...

Top quark properties and mass measurements with the ATLAS detector

Highlights on recent measurements of top quark properties in ATLAS, using pp collision data at √ s= 8 TeV and 13 TeV, are presented. The measurements of the top quark polarization and spin correlation coefficients, the W boson helicity fractions, the structure of the Wtb vertex, the associated production of a tt̄ pair with a vector boson or a photon, and the top quark mass are all in agreement w...

use TOP PHYSICS FROM RUN 1 AND RUN 2 PROSPECTS AT CDF

We present a summary of top quark physics results from Run 1 at CDF using the Run 1 data sample of 106 pb −1. In addition to the precursory measurements of the top quark mass and t ¯ t cross section, we have performed a number of other analyses which test the consistency of the t ¯ t data sample with the standard model (SM). Deviations from SM expectations could provide hints for new physics. W...
